Glass Staircase Renovations — Most Jobs Done in 1–2 Days
Replace your spindles with glass, update the handrail, refinish the timber — without touching the structure. Send us a photo and we'll come back with a ballpark price the same day. No site visit needed to get started.
Most Staircases Don't Need Replacing — They Need Renovating
A full staircase replacement is expensive, disruptive, and in most cases completely unnecessary. The structure — the strings, treads, and newel posts — is usually sound. What ages a staircase is the spindles, the handrail finish, and the dated colour scheme. Replace the spindles with glass, refinish or replace the handrail, and repaint or re-oil the timber, and you have a staircase that looks entirely new. We're qualified joiners, not just glass fitters, which means we can handle the full renovation rather than just the glass element.
We carry out staircase renovations across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, and the wider East Midlands. The vast majority of jobs are completed in one to two days on site with minimal disruption to the household.
Send us a phone photo and we'll come back with a ballpark price the same day — no site visit needed to get a number.

A bold, high-contrast renovation finish. We replace your existing spindles and fit new newel posts, handrail, and base rail — all painted in a deep matt or satin black — then install glass panels throughout the balustrade. Your existing staircase structure, treads, and strings stay exactly where they are. The result is a completely transformed look without touching the staircase itself.

- All balustrade timber painted black (matt or satin finish)
- Glass panel infill — clamped or grooved into new rails
- Dramatic contrast against light walls and pale floors

All Oak Finish
A full oak balustrade renovation — new solid oak newel posts, handrail, base rail, and stringer cladding fitted to your existing staircase structure, combined with glass panel infill. The existing treads stay in place; we work around them. Oak's natural grain and warmth creates a rich, premium feel that suits both traditional and contemporary homes.

Stainless Steel & Glass
A clean, industrial-modern renovation. We remove the existing spindles and fit new stainless steel newel posts, handrail, and base rail directly to your existing staircase structure, then install frameless or semi-frameless glass panels throughout. No staircase rebuild required — the steel and glass balustrade is fitted to what's already there.
- New stainless steel posts, handrail, and base rail
- Brushed or mirror-polished finish
- 10mm toughened safety glass
- Existing staircase structure and treads untouched
- Low maintenance and highly durable
Frameless Glass Staircase
The most minimal balustrade renovation we offer. Existing spindles are removed and fully frameless glass panels are fitted directly to your existing handrail and base rail — or new minimal rails are installed — with no visible posts. Your treads and staircase structure stay exactly as they are. The result is an uninterrupted run of glass from hall to landing, completely open and light-filled.
- Fully frameless — no posts or spindles visible
- Fitted to an existing stringer or floating steps
- Requires precise measurement and manufacture
- Premium specification — laminated safety glass

White Timber Staircase
A clean, all-white balustrade renovation. We fit new white-painted newel posts, handrail, and base rail to your existing staircase structure and replace the spindles with glass panels. Treads and strings stay in place — we're working on the balustrade only. Fresh, bright, and contemporary, this finish works well in smaller hallways where maximising light matters.

- Glass panel infill replacing existing spindles
- Fresh, bright, and contemporary finish
- Easy to repaint and maintain long-term
