Official supply and installation of Balconnette Juliet balcony systems across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire & the East Midlands. Frameless, Aerofoil, and Orbit styles — installed by our own team.
Balconnette are one of the UK's leading manufacturers of glass Juliet balcony systems — designing and manufacturing their products at their Surrey facility. We are an official approved supplier and installer of their range, which means you get a direct supply route to a quality manufactured product with a local team handling the full installation.
A Juliet balcony — sometimes called a balconette or French balcony — is a fixed glass safety barrier fitted across a French door, bifold door, or patio door opening at upper floor level. It has no floor to step out onto, but it allows the doors to open fully while providing compliant guarding against falls. The result is more light, better ventilation, and a better connection with the outside — without the cost or structural work of a full balcony.
Balconnette's systems are engineered to provide maximum spans of uninterrupted glass — fewer posts, cleaner sightlines, and a better view from inside.
All Balconnette products are designed and manufactured at their own UK facility — not imported and rebranded. This means consistent quality, reliable lead times, and accountability at every stage of the process.
The Aerofoil system spans up to 4,100mm without a single vertical post. The Orbit system reaches 3,300mm. Most door openings can be covered with a completely clean, post-free installation.
Handrails are manufactured from anodised aluminium — more corrosion-resistant than marine-grade stainless steel, lighter, and available in a choice of colours and finishes. They will not rust, pit, or degrade in external conditions.
Available in Royal Chrome (anodised), Silver (anodised), RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, and RAL 9005 Jet Black — powder coated for the RAL colours. Coordinates with uPVC, aluminium, or timber door frames in most standard colour schemes.
Fast-track standard sizes from 1,000mm to 4,000mm wide are available on short lead times. Custom widths are made to order — from 800mm up to the maximum span for each system — with a lead time of approximately 21 working days from sign-off.
Toughened and laminated glass panels combined with anodised aluminium hardware require no painting, treating, or regular maintenance. Self-cleaning glass is an option for hard-to-reach installations. Once fitted, the system simply performs.
Each Balconnette Juliet system has a distinct visual character — from a wing-shaped architectural rail to a classic circular handrail. All use toughened safety glass and anodised aluminium components.
The Aerofoil system uses a wing-shaped (aerofoil profile) aluminium top rail that is comfortable to lean on while providing exceptional rigidity across large spans — up to 4,100mm without a vertical post. The aerofoil profile is cleverly engineered to resist bending and twisting along the full length of the rail.
The combination of the aerofoil handrail and a bracketed bottom rail creates a system that is structurally very strong while remaining visually light. Popular for wide bifold or sliding door openings where other systems would require mid-span posts.
The Orbit system uses a circular 70mm diameter aluminium handrail — a classic profile that is familiar and comfortable to hold. The internal channel and bracing support design provides excellent stability and rigidity with horizontal runs up to 3,300mm without additional upright posts.
Suits a wide range of property types — the round handrail profile works well on both traditional and contemporary buildings and is the most familiar handrail form. Available in the same colour range as the Aerofoil system.
All Balconnette Juliet systems use safety glass — either toughened or laminated — as standard. Both meet current Building Regulations requirements for guarding at height.
Heat-treated to be four to five times stronger than standard float glass. When broken, shatters into small blunt fragments rather than large sharp shards. Standard specification for most Juliet balcony installations.
Two panes bonded with an interlayer — if broken, the glass holds together in the frame rather than falling. Provides an additional level of security. Recommended for installations at significant height or where building control specifies it.
Available as an upgrade. A microscopic coating uses UV light to break down organic matter and rain to rinse it away — significantly reducing maintenance on hard-to-reach upper floor installations.
We are an official approved supplier and fitter of Balconnette systems across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and the East Midlands. Send us your door width and we can price it the same day.
