Glass Partition Costs & Pricing Guide
Realistic UK price ranges for office, meeting room, and residential glass partition systems — what affects the price and how to budget for your project.
How Much Do Glass Partitions Cost?
Glass partition pricing is driven by the system type, glass specification, room height, whether doors are required, and the complexity of the installation. A straightforward single-glazed run in a standard office setting is very different from a full acoustic meeting room with frameless pivot doors — and the price reflects that.
The figures below are based on our completed installations across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. All prices include supply and installation and are inclusive of VAT. For the full range of systems and styles we offer, see our glass partitions page.
Typical Glass Partition Cost Ranges
Single Glazed — Standard
From £600 per linear metre
Supply & installation incl. VAT
Aluminium-framed or minimal-channel single glazed partition, floor to ceiling height. Standard for open-plan offices, reception dividers, and residential room divisions where acoustic performance is not a priority.
Acoustic Laminated Glass
From £900 per linear metre
Supply & installation incl. VAT
Acoustic laminated glass (typically 10.8mm or 13.5mm laminated) with sealed framed door, engineered for meeting rooms and private offices where Rw 38–42 dB performance is needed.
Double Glazed Partition
From £1,400 per linear metre
Supply & installation incl. VAT
Double glazed unit within an aluminium frame — the highest-performing acoustic option. Achieves Rw 45–50 dB. Used in boardrooms, legal offices, and any situation where speech privacy is critical.
Doors — Additional Cost
£400 – £1,200 per door
Supply & installation incl. VAT
Framed hinged doors (better acoustic seal) start from around £400. Frameless pivot or sliding glass doors are higher — typically £700–£1,200 — due to the hardware and the precision required at the reveal.
What Affects the Cost of a Glass Partition?
The figures above are starting points. Actual costs will depend on a number of factors that are confirmed at survey stage:
System Type & Frame
Aluminium-framed systems (head, base, and vertical posts visible) are the most cost-effective. Minimal-channel systems — where only a slim head and base track are visible — cost more due to the structural requirement of thicker glass. The choice of frame colour (silver, black, bronze, custom RAL) has a modest effect on price.
Glass Specification
Standard 10mm toughened glass is the cheapest option and works well for non-acoustic applications. Acoustic laminated glass (10.8mm, 13.5mm) costs more and is necessary for meeting rooms. Double glazed units are the most expensive specification and are reserved for high-performance acoustic requirements.
Room Height
Standard floor-to-ceiling heights (2.4–2.7m) are priced normally. Higher ceilings require larger glass panels, which cost more to manufacture and are more complex to handle and install. Heights above 3m may require structural calculation.
Door Configuration
Whether you need a door, what type, and where it sits in the run all affect cost significantly. A single framed hinged door is the most affordable. Double doors, frameless pivot doors, or top-hung sliding glass doors each add to the price. Door hardware (locks, pulls, closers) is included in the door price.
Manifestation & Finish
Approved Document M (and BS 8300) requires safety manifestation on fully glazed doors and any glazed panels at walking height. Frosted bands, etched patterns, or manifestation film are available — basic band manifestation is typically included. Bespoke etching or custom film is priced separately.
Installation Complexity
A single straight run in an empty room is the most straightforward case. Complex layouts — L-shapes, meeting rooms with multiple returns, high-ceiling spaces, or partitions connecting to unusual surfaces (sloped ceilings, exposed brick, existing glazing) — take longer and cost more.
The Process — From Enquiry to Installation
We typically provide an initial budget range from a description and rough dimensions — no site visit needed at that stage. Once you are happy with the indicative price:
- We arrange a free site survey to take precise measurements and confirm the specification.
- We prepare a fixed-price quotation — itemised, with no provisional sums.
- On acceptance, a deposit of 30–50% is required to cover materials and glass manufacture.
- Glass is manufactured to order — lead time is typically 2–4 weeks from deposit.
- Installation is carried out by our own team — typically 1–2 days for a standard office partition.
- The balance is due on completion.
We use the partition builder tool on our glass partitions page to let you configure a layout, select glass spec and door options, and request a quote directly — all in one step.
